Duncan Chisholm was born in Toronto and attended UTS until his family moved to Montreal. After completing school he entered McGill University to study Arts and became a member of the University’s Canadian Officers’ Training Corps. He enlisted in the McGill Heavy Siege Battery during his first year, and arrived in France in March 1918. He later transferred to the 10th Battery, 3rd Brigade of the Canadian Garrison Artillery. While fighting at Villers-les-Cagnicourt in September 1918, he was struck and killed by a splinter from a high explosive shell. He is buried in Vis-en-Artois British Cemetery in Haucourt, France.
